uBreakiFix Accessory packaging
Electronics accessory packaging can be tough to design. Cables, chargers, and other related items tend to look the same… and there’s usually more options than consumers are comfortable with. So much so that distinct products with very different purposes can be easily mistaken for one another. Is it a usb-c or a lightning charger? Does it work with mac?
To keep things simple for both uBreakiFix employees and customers I made category, depth, and function the three main pillars for the entire catalogue of accessories. Arrows with labels point to large graphics of the dongles and other device specific features. Bold all-caps device names make them easy to read from across the counter. Packaging is then all tied together with a consistently sized and positioned horizon line, created by the purple color blocking used as device backdrops.
Arrows, Marker Font, and Doodles
Keeping it clear doesn’t have to mean keeping it boring. Some simple wayfinding and illustrations make this packaging explicit and visually entertaining.
Bold, Uppercase Copy
Product names are essential and their legibility needs to be taken into consideration not just when in hand, but also when across the counter and beyond the customer’s reach.
The Horizon Line
A simple horizontal line, created by a brand-purple color block, adds depth, dimension, and contrast to the device photography. This horizon line also creates a consistent visual element across multiple products on a product wall.
